Minutes October 2, 2007

Call to Order:

 Secretary Report:

Shawna read the minutes from the September meeting.  No one had any changes to the minutes.

 Treasurers Report:

Budget for 2007 – Nothing was reported.

 Where we are: 

Filing tax returns/etc. financial audit – Nothing was reported.

Review updates:

All problems are out of Felicity and Amelia.  Red cards were issued for players and parents.

Refs are in charge no one is to take over for refs.  If there is a question, it should be taken up with the ref after the game. 

If a ref picks up the ball and calls the game, no one is to take their place.  The game is then over and the situation should be presented to the board for further action.

The board needs to re-visit the policy on coaches getting tossed out of games for badgering refs.  Red cards need to be consistent on how long suspension would take place.  Can they be tossed w/out a red card?

 Director of Scheduling:

Updates: B u14 was re-scheduled for Thursday at burg.

Rain outs – at felicity u7 needs to play on sun.  Oct 6 games moved to 7^th due to festival.  Coaches have been contacted.   Ref coordinator needs to know about canceled games.  Coach is to call district rep who will contact ref coordinator.  Remind coaches of that procedure.  2 dribblers games and 1 u 7 will be made up on Sunday.

 Tournament Committee:

Update- Each district will ref their own games in the first round.  Can ask for help from other districts if need be.  Should a team who won 10-0, only get 2 pts instead of 3 since it is unsportsmanlike? Maybe instead of taking points away, we should take the best players out of the game during the game.  It was brought up that points won’t matter anyway as it is based on wins.

Need tournament location for games – Felicity not doing BU10.  It will now be in Batavia.

Review of procedures & brackets-

Team listed at top of bracket will be the home team.

Forfeiture is recorded as a loss and will be recorded if a team is more than 5 minutes late.

Finals will be in Batavia on Oct.27^th.

Tim, Eric, Tracey will need to be contacted if there are any issues on the fields during tournaments.  There MUST be an adult in charge during the whole time the tournament is being played.  Board members will need to help deliver trophies and field marshall games.

Draw is on Saturday at 6:00 pm at Bethel Tate Middle School; coaches can come but don’t have to.

 Who is not playing?

Amelia – all; NR – girls u14 bishop; Felicity – all; Bethel – all

Burg – boys u12 williford; Batavia – boys u9

If a team drops out once committed they can NOT come back next year and play in the tournament.

 VP Report:

Any yellow/red cards – U10 Batavia player needs to be addressed. When he was red carded, he made a huge scene.  If anyone is getting yellow carded, it isn’t being reported.  Red cards:  Bethel parent.  3 players/burg/Amelia – served already.  One left to be decided on.  Several parents were carded but have already served suspension.

Discipline Actions – Ref repeated cuss words across field to let coach know why the player was receiving a red card.  Ref needs to be approached about using inappropriate language.

 Presidents report:

Score web site update – need help.  Shawna is not looking at them anymore.  Coaches are still not doing it correctly.  PLEASE stress with coaches to tell Shawna what the corrections need to be.

One call update – It is up and everything is in. 818 numbers.  If coach gets 3 calls it is b/c they are on multiple teams.  Shawna will be making calls about tournament and by-law changes along with open positions.

Coaches rosters, sidelines – coaches need to be on the rosters if they are going to participate in a game.  Issues came up with coaches stepping in for games from other teams and are not on that particular roster.

Amelia compliance – DR & Amelia Bd.  Elections on hold as Amelia is looking to change fields or get out of the ccsa altogether, as it is too expensive at this point.

For next year, the board needs to think about getting an u18 league for those kids that can’t or won’t play high school ball.

 Old Business:

District update – how is it going?

Amelia – nothing; NR- nothing

Burg – nothing – looking into new goals once field size is determined.

Felicity – nothing; Batavia – nothing

 2007 season calendar review – will we have to use the rain out weekend? NO

Tournament is scheduled to start 10/13.

Amelia – any luck w/DR? – no. They could be leaving ccsa anyway.  A decision will be made by November elections.

Bylaw Amendment to be posted at the individual district and voted on in Nov meeting.

 New Business:

Possible candidates for VP,secretary, treasurer, any other interest in appointed positions?

Nothing for VP.  Secretary – Maria Carmosino, Treasurer – Tammy Smith.  Shawna will put all positions out there but we still need someone for VP.  Ask around.

Awards – trophies need to be ordered by wed to have by sat.

Range from $3.50 – $5.00.  Last yr they were $4.95/piece from all-star. 

Season shirts are in.  When standings are finalized t-shirts will be made per Shawnas directions with sizes, etc.

 Bethel Fall fees due - $2,862.50(now paid)

Balance of fees for Felicity $87.50 (now paid) & Batavia $75(in dispute)

Bethel needs $18 for ref shirt for Dennis Anchor.

Felicity owes for ref shirts as well.  More than $50

NR still owes for one ref shirt as well.

 Board social function – need a date & who will be invited?

Yes we want to do it.  Will take place in January. Everyone will pay for their own alcohol and are invited to bring one guest.  All districts are in agreement.  As incentive for next year’s board members, it was suggested that ccsa would pay for their kids to play. (Will be discussed further at another meeting.)
